Along the way, keep your eyes open for Florida wildlife—spoonbills, osprey, and other native birds soar overhead, and if you’re lucky, you may spot a gopher tortoise tucked along the trail.

The 50th Annual Sandy Claws Beach Run is a longtime tradition in Sarasota's running community. It is ran by Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources in partnership with presenting sponsor New Balance University. Set a fast pace across the hard-packed, world-renowned sand of Siesta Beach in the chip-timed 5K, sanctioned by the Manasota Track Club and part of the MTC Race Series, or enjoy a leisurely morning stroll along the shore in the 1-mile fun run.
